Words from the Lord during prayer and devotional journaling

    I hear the Lord say:

Grief is normal. Grief is expected when circumstances bring bad news. Grief is not permanent. Today you feel grief but comfort is coming. I am with you in the grief. Let the tears fall. I am here beside you. Breathe in. Breathe out. Bring to mind My promises. They are your comfort. Fill your mind with My words of truth and comfort. While on earth, Jesus told His disciples “in the world, you will have tribulation. But behold, I have overcome the world.”  Paul mentioned suffering followed by a glorious reunion. James reminds you that trials and suffering produce perseverance, endurance and steadfastness.

As the boat rocks and you lose your balance, call out to Me. I will give you ‘sea legs’ to handle the waves. Let Me be the rudder to guide you on your way. I know the way ahead. Trust Me to steer the boat.

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.  John 16:33  ESV

    I hear the Lord say:

I am the Way Maker – the Light in the Darkness. During these uncertain times, know that I am certain. I am steadfast. I am true. I light your way in the darkness. Although the world will have trouble, fear not, I have overcome the world. See, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone opens the door, I will come in and dine with them. I will abide with you, day and night, through thick and thin, through pestilence and disease, through war and famine. Though 10,000  may fall, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Abide in the shelter of My wings; run into My strong tower. You are safe with Me. All who dwell in the shadow of the Most High will be saved.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

    I hear the Lord say:

Peace, peace, I leave you. This peace is your warm blanket on a cold winter’s day. This peace is the sun shining on a grassy meadow. This peace is the sound of bird song in the morning. This peace settles in your heart. It keeps you calm when things around you are not. This peace is from heaven and cannot be duplicated by human hands. This peace is the love that pours out from My heavenly throne. Each day, each moment, receive My peace.

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way.
The Lord be with you all.
    2 Thessalonians 3:16  ESV

    I hear the Lord say:

Open your eyes and ears to hear My holy whisper. In each task lean in to hear My voice. A routine errand can be a holy assignment. Let Me saturate your thoughts. Let Me guard your future and map out your encounters.

Fear is gripping the nation over the corona virus. People go happily on their way; then are stopped in their tracks by something they can’t control. As you have learned and are learning, control is an illusion. It’s trust in Me that is real. In human mindset, it’s illogical.  In a holy mindset, it’s indispensable. As you rest in My presence, and find joy in My presence, it will bubble up and spill over into those around you

Let Me guide your decisions of what to do and where to go. Let peace reign in your heart.

Philippians 4:7 “ And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

    I hear the Lord say:

You read how light casts out darkness. Mild or moderate light can leave shadows. But My light is so intense it removes all shadows of doubt, fear and confusion. In My Light, you see with brilliance the glory of Who I AM and what I do. Like the sun at noon, there is no shadow or turning. I am true North, your true direction and compass to guide you on your journey.

With My light and My compass, you won’t get lost. “Where are my provisions?” you ask. I will supply them along the way. I will take care of everything. No need to fret or worry or pack a bag. I know what you need,  when you need it. A journey to a place on earth requires planning and preparation, packing and provisions. A journey with Me is fluid and based on your trust in Me, obedience to follow and allowing Me to lead and provide. No longer self-sufficient, but God-dependent. Since the plans I have for you are for your good (Jeremiah 29:11), you can trust Me.  Take one day at a time. Anticipate new adventures with Me – joy and peace will settle in your soul as you increase your trust in Me.

And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

    I hear the Lord say:

You are My people, you are My tribe, you are My family. You I cannot divide. You are My precious one, you are My child. As great as I am, as self-sufficient and all knowing, as a supreme being and as Alpha and Omega, with all that I AM, I love you. The stars in the sky, the universe itself, doesn’t hold a candle to the enormity of My love for you.

Don’t underestimate the power of love. Love can move mountains. Love can break chains. Love can melt hardened hearts. Agape love, pure love, unconditional love, is the key to powerful encounters. Serving others with this love unlocks the door to the secret places in their hearts. As a vessel of My agape love, you will be My ambassador. The keys to the kingdom are in your hands. Take every opportunity to share the gospel message, My Good News, to others. Let My Goodness shine forth.

This is love: He loved us long before we loved him.

It was his love, not ours.

He proved it by sending his Son to be the pleasing sacrificial

offering to take away our sins.

    I hear the Lord say:

Anger is a poison.  It starts out as an annoyance, a simmering pot, then rises to a full boil, angry and hot. Its force of hot steam blows off the lid, spewing and sputtering and burning those nearby. Its cause is pain. When pain has no where to go, it erupts in anger or delves into depression. Neither option is the choice I have for you. I beseech you to unclench your fists and hand over your pain. It’s a burden and it’s unhealthy. It’s a poison to your mind and spirit. You erringly think that if the circumstances change, you will be happy. But circumstances – good or bad- don’t lead to happiness. Happiness is contentment with your life in Me.  You can’t control life. You can only control your reaction to life. Choose joy, choose peace, choose contentment, choose trust, choose gentleness and self-control.

Offense stirs up strife and boils over into anger. Give it to Me. It will dissolve like sugar in warm water. A divine exchange is in order. Meditate on My goodness. Ruminate on My lovingkindness. Cast off the old man, close the ruts of negative thinking. Take a detour with Me. Look up and behold a new day.

But godliness with contentment is great gain…
