Words from the Lord during prayer and devotional journaling

    I hear the Lord say:

It is human nature to get wrapped up in today and the current circumstances. There is always a ‘to do’ list and things to keep you busy. Remember also that today is your day to continue to walk with and grow closer to Me. I am at your side and want to give you My perspective and wisdom for each part of your day. With your eyes on eternity, you see that all of the “todays” accumulate to a closer intimacy with Me. Stop to listen and wait for My wisdom before mapping out your day. I may have a special assignment for you: an assignment that will bless you and bless others. Your trust in Me and My faithfulness will grow as you yield to My yoke. This will prepare you for an eternity with Me.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:29 NIV

    I hear the Lord say:

You are struggling with trials so I want to encourage you to stand tall and stay strong like this mighty tree. It overlooks the river, watching the tide ebb and flow. It has seasons of plenty and drought. It withstands stormy gales that lash at its branches. But… because its roots are firmly established, it stands tall and strong. Its leaves change with each season, just as people go through changes and seasons of their lives. Each day, each month, each year, will bring new trials and old trials. Some trials that you thought were behind you. Remember that each morning brings a fresh start and new hope in abiding in Me and thriving with Me. Will you weather the storm with Me? Will you stay grounded in Scripture and in My promises? My armor is at your disposal. Join Me in victory over your trials and doubts. I am ever present; everlasting and ever faithful. Lean on Me. Look for a testimony of praise. The sun is shining beyond the clouds.

    I hear the Lord say:

I see you are eager to grow in knowledge, wisdom and passion for Me and My Word. It is a good thing to seek Me with all your heart. Be aware, though, of this pursuit becoming a goal instead of a lifestyle. My Word is open to you and I will open your eyes to new insights and understanding as you ponder My word and My character. What I want most is unhurried time with you. Let Me show you an abiding lifestyle where My Words and My whispers offer you daily growth, steady growth and lasting growth. There is no rush to gain knowledge. All learning takes time and effort but it should be a joy not a chore. Abiding with Me is your treasure and a pleasure. I make all things new. I bring you peace, joy and contentment. My presence is with you to meet all your needs.

Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ. Ephesians 4:15 ESV

    I hear the Lord say:

Slowing down, meditating on My Truth, My Word, and My promises is bringing you much joy. You are experiencing My shalom peace. Enjoying nature, taking photographs, listening to bird song, planning restful days: it offers a new attitude toward life in general. The chores and lists are manageable. No more impossible To Do Lists. By flowing in My peace and joy, you join the body of disciples who are training to abide in Me daily. Continue to seek Me first in your day. Wait on the Holy Spirit for guidance throughout your day. Reflect on My Goodness in all situations.

    I hear the Lord say:

“Moment by moment” – this is to be your daily affirmation of how to abide in Me and therefore abide in My shalom peace. There is a battle going on for your attention and your outlook on life. The world will have you spinning in cycles of despair, worry, doubt and fear. As you know, My Son, Jesus, shared “I have overcome the world.” With this divine authority, you have overcome the world as well. You are a child of the King, My beloved daughter, My overcomer. You can and will walk in divine favor because you are cherished and treasured. My Word is filled with promises of strength and peace as you abide in Me. My strength is your strength. My peace is your peace. My victory is your victory. Be renewed day by day, moment by moment.

    I hear the Lord say:

When life gets a bit ‘rocky’, and you feel like your boat is tipping or taking on water, remind yourself “God is with me.” When the path ahead has rocks, boulders, or mud to slow you down, say to yourself “God is with me.” When the walk through the valley seems fraught with hurdles and the way forward seems murky, tell yourself “God is with me.” When you worry, fret or doubt, bring to mind My promises in Scripture that reassure you of My love, compassion, companionship, guidance, wisdom and peace. These will bolster your spirits and give you the encouragement you need to keep moving forward. Keep walking, steady on. Life is a journey that will always have ‘ups and downs’ but you are never alone. Your destiny is assured as you join hands with Me. Emmanuel “God with us” is ever present.

When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who watch over my way. Psalm 142:3 NIV

    I hear the Lord say:

I know waiting is hard. It is frustrating and sometimes frightening. Waiting for answered prayers, waiting for health news, waiting for life to become more ‘normal.’ I want to remind you “I am with you in the waiting.” Waiting is not hard for Me. I see the end from the beginning. I know of the good plans I have for you. I will strengthen you in the waiting. You must turn from past habits of worry and stress. Your renewed mind is equipped to see circumstances in a new light. You will see opportunities for spiritual growth and a new testimony to share. You can wait with anticipation of the fruit of your prayers. You can wait with joy.

Lord , I wait for you; you will answer, Lord my God. Psalm 38:15 NIV
