Words & Whispers

Words from the Lord during prayer and devotional journaling

I hear the Lord say:

There is a girl who wants to please her father very much. She keeps trying and is almost striving, to learn more, to understand more, to read more, to explore more. She is on safari and is hacking away at jungle vines to clear a path ahead. She is sweating and slapping at annoying flies and mosquitoes. She believes this is her lot in life but she’s wrong. She hears the sound of wind chimes and puts down her machete. She turns to see a clearing ahead. There is a path laid out in front of her. She follows the sound of singing and sees that her path is not burdensome but open and airy, and leads to a beautifully tended garden and a gazebo. There is a place to rest, to meet the Lord, to relax and spend time in His presence.  A cool breeze fans her face. She sees Jesus in the gazebo and He beckons to her.  She joyfully joins Him in a comfortable chair and takes a sip of refreshing iced tea. “Ah” she exclaims, “it’s perfect.” Her mind and body relax in the presence of her Savior and Brother. She feels accepted and loved. Her focus is on the One who is her Lord and King.  He smiles and they laugh together. She takes in the beauty around her. The flowers and birds are bright and cheery. A melody of love permeates the garden. The girl feels joy bubbling up inside her. Contentment fills her soul.  “This is the life,” she thinks. “This is the abundant life that Christ has for me. This is where I belong.”

Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.  Psalm 25:4 ESV

Yes this really ministered to me. So often with all the challenges,
I often feel this is my lot in life. I desire to just be with the Lord and feel that joy of His presence. Thank you.
