Words & Whispers

Words from the Lord during prayer and devotional journaling

    I hear the Lord say:

Gently falls the snow, covering the earth with a crisp white blanket, softening, stilling and subduing the usual sights and sounds. I bring you this gentle quiet to soften and still your mind and renew your spirit. A landscape of white on green shrubs and trees reduces the color palette and slows the pace. Walking in the snow, you hear a ‘hush’ over the neighborhood. I walk with you as you savor the clean, crisp air and transformed world. This ‘hush’ is a reminder of My shalom peace. There is no hurrying and no worrying during a stroll in the snow. All is calm, all is bright. Enjoy your quiet time with Me.

    Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

  • I hear the Lord say:

Looking at the pond scene, you see a reflected image of trees and sky. I created this marvelous mirror lake image to remind you of how you are uniquely and wonderfully made in the image of God (Me). Your image holds the beauty and majesty of creation. All of my beloved children are created in My Image and are called to be one with Me. The unity we hold is stronger when you choose to abide in Me each day. Trials and tribulations may cloud your vision. You may forget that I hold the world in My hands. Keep looking at My Word daily, meditating on My goodness, grace and power. You are strong when I am by your side. When you look in the mirror, see who you are in My eyes. You have a calling and a mission. It will succeed because you have surrendered to Me. Above all, maintain hope. There is a time to every season. Today is your day to walk in victory.

and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
    Colossians 3:10

  • I hear the Lord say:

Most foods and spices have an expiration date. This ensures that the food item is safe to use. Expiration dates also include warranties, repairs and and coupons. It is a ‘use it or lose it’ society. With My love, however, there is no expiration date! As your creator and Savior, time has no start or end. I AM with you for eternity. Your life now, abiding with Me in Spirit and Truth, is forever. You may change addresses as you pass from the earth’s realm into My heavenly realm, but My love is constant and true. Let this confidence keep you strong and bold in the faith.

    I hear the Lord say:

When you see this lovely amaryllis flower, you marvel at its beauty. Just a bare bulb in some soil a few weeks ago, it grew taller daily and rapidly. The final flowers are just magnificent. Let Me remind you that all of this beauty was stored in that ugly bulb. Amazing, isn’t it? I create beauty from ashes. The flower’s beauty is nothing compared to the beauty that you are. There is nothing but beauty in you because you are My creation. Each child of Mine is unique and beautiful. Don’t forget this on bad hair days. Knowing you are loved and cherished will keep your spirits up and focused on My goodness each day. Arise each morning and surrender your day to Me. You will ‘bloom’ in each interaction, appointment or errand. There will be many opportunities to show My beauty and love to those around you.

    I hear the Lord say:

As you walk into 2026, look ahead with joyful expectation! There is much to be thankful for and more blessings on the way! Your dedication to reading my Word and walking deeper in faith will have great dividends. Great sowing leads to great reaping. Let’s join hands in this new year to discover how abiding in Me makes life an ‘easy yoke.’ Challenges will still arise but you will have My armor to strengthen you, My comfort to sustain you and My wisdom to guide you. Looking back, you can see how I answered prayers and sustained you. Looking ahead, you can start each day in confidence, knowing that I am ever-present and ever-loving.

    I hear the Lord say:

I walk with you in the meadow, whispering My love for you in the stillness of the crisp morning air. The crunch of gravel under your boots, the tweets and calls of songbirds, the clear blue sky over a golden field; these alert your senses, increasing your awareness of life and breath. Enjoying the time to slow down and meander. Standing motionless to spy a sparrow in the grass, searching for its morning seeds. Time to take in the beauty of the season. You recall the verse, “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” (Isaiah 40:8). You understand that your time on earth is fleeting and are inspired to dedicate each day to the Lord for His glory. This is My heart-cry for My children: to see that they are deeply loved and cared for and to return that love to Me. Devote yourself to Me, as I am devoted to you.

    I hear the Lord say:

Wonders and miracles exist all around you. Be mindful of daily wonders such as the towering trees and gentle snowfall; the delicacy and uniqueness of a snowflake; the quiet hush over freshly fallen snow. Let your senses be filled with sights, sounds and smells that bring you joy. A gorgeous sunset, the call of the chickadee, the smell of freshly baked bread; these things remind you of blessings all around you. The miracle of the Gospel story brings joy in prophecies fulfilled, angels and shepherds rejoicing, a rescue mission for humankind! The miracle of life and the promise of everlasting life proves My love for you. Timely Scripture verses, encouragement from friends, and worship songs are reminders that I care deeply for you. I weave these God-breathed moments into each of your days. Keep your eyes and ears open so as not to miss a brushstroke or twinkle.
