Words & Whispers

Words from the Lord during prayer and devotional journaling

    I hear the Lord say:

It’s a new year, it’s more of the same but you want more of the different. Look deep inside you. There is different there. The past year has changed you. The trials of 2020, the uncertainty, the fear, the rage, the indifference, the division, the strife, the chaos… it seems never-ending. This is the result of mankind making wrong choices, following falsehoods, responding out of fear instead of seeking the source of life-giving peace and trust. Peter was walking on water with Me until he took his eyes off Me and observed the waves around him. So you too are staring at the waves, becoming seasick with fear and doom. Lift your head and fix your gaze firmly on Me. Look neither right or left. Look up to Me, at My face, into My eyes, which are full of peace and love. Look into My eyes which will cast out all fear and doubt and fill you with strength and joy. Look into My eyes and see that all is possible, that My love overcomes, that My victory is assured. Look into My eyes and see that human striving is pointless. Look into My eyes for a supernatural impartation of grace, mercy, peace and truth. Only with My eyes will you see others as I created them to be. Only with My eyes will you have hope and joy.

Yet there is a wisdom that we are speaking to those who are mature enough for it. But it is not the wisdom of this world or of this world’s leaders, who are in the process of passing away. On the contrary, we are communicating a secret wisdom from God which has been hidden until now but which, before history began, God had decreed would bring us glory. 1 Cor 2:6-7 CJB

But we have the mind of Christ. I Corinthians 2:16 ESV

    I hear the Lord say:

With the new year coming up on the calendar, many use this as a ‘fresh start’ and make ‘New Year’s resolutions.” Each person does this out of a heart of wanting to make improvements in their lives. But self-discipline to make changes can be challenging. Many people make radical resolutions but they forget that habits take time to develop. Persistence in a new habit is the key to lasting change. Let Me help with that. Let Me infuse you with supernatural strength and resolve. Let Me guide you to make wise decisions with manageable choices and attainable goals. Lean on Me when you feel weak. Call on Me for strength. Praise Me when you feel prone to worry or fret. Sing songs of victory when defeat seems imminent. There is a peace that passes understanding that can calm you in the storm. There is a joy that is uncontainable that will overcome the trials you endure. It is a new year, but every day is also a new day. So look to this new day every day and ignite your faith and trust in Me. My power is your power. Wield it as a sword to strengthen and encourage you moment by moment.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.

    I hear the Lord say:

Peace on earth. An oxymoron? It appears so in the natural. But My peace is supernatural peace. It is peace that exists because you abide in Me and I abide in you. As a follower of Christ, you are called to stand for peace. It does not mean you permit injustice or wrong-doing, Standing for peace is standing for your fellow man, woman and child. Standing for peace means you are clothed in Christ to bring healing and wholeness to the nations. Standing for peace means all of your words and actions stem from a root of love and harmony. Standing for peace means you lift up the lowly, help the downcast, and assist the poor. There are many who suffer. They need a cup of cold water. They need material and spiritual support. As you do to others, so you do to Me.

Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” John 20:19

And the King will answer them, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” Matthew 25:40 ESV

    I hear the Lord say:

Christmas: a day to celebrate, a day to rejoice, a day to treasure in your heart. All of heaven’s angels rejoiced at My Son’s birth in Bethlehem. We chose this place, this time, this moment in history to bring forth Our plan of salvation. The long-awaited Messiah Yeshua! Prophets of old declared His coming. Scripture is fulfilled. All of heaven and earth rejoice! It is a day to celebrate all year long. The joy of Christmas and the joy of resurrection culminate in the abiding presence of joy in your heart. Joy for today, joy for tomorrow. Joy triumphs over sorrow. Joy is contagious. Heaven and earth unite in praise and song.

…the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, because I am here announcing to you Good News that will bring great joy to all the people. This very day, in the town of David, there was born for you a Deliverer who is the Messiah, the Lord.  Here is how you will know: you will find a baby wrapped in cloth and lying in a feeding trough.” Suddenly, along with the angel was a vast army from heaven praising God: “In the highest heaven, glory to God! And on earth, peace among people of good will!” Luke 2:10-14 CJB

    I hear the Lord say:

Sometimes the nights seem especially long. But the time you spend waiting for the dawn is not wasted. Use that time, in the deep dark, to remember, that I shine like the sun, and in Me, there is no darkness at all. My truth shines through the depths of darkness; nothing can impair it, reduce it or block it. My truth stands for all eternity. My truth is what you can count on when life throws a challenge at you. My truth is your firm foundation, your rock, your refuge, your strong tower. Cling to My truth, trust in My truth, speak out My truth. The power of your words will give strength to your spirit. The truth will rise up, and your determination to stand will rise up with it. Speaking the truth aloud will cast off doubt, dispel despair, and stamp out fear. As the sun rises and breaks through the night, bringing a new day, you can rise as well. Rise in the power and strength of My Son, Jesus. He is Your strength and song.

    Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid;

for the Lord God is my strength and my song,

and he has become my salvation.

    I hear the Lord say:

A wonderful feast awaits for all My children. It will be greater and grander than you can imagine. Abundance, lavish abundance is what I have for you; now and forever. This abundance is given as a gift to you. Abundance of love, mercy, forgiveness… abundance of blessings, insight and revelation…abundance of joy, peace, and gratitude… Abundance is the definition of My character: abundant in power, compassion, strength and mercy. This abundance is offered to you. No strings attached. As you lean in to Me, rely on Me, trust in Me, hope in Me, these qualities will fill you to overflowing. Your mind, body and spirit will abide in My presence and there will be joy forevermore.

For I know what plans I have in mind for you,’ says Adonai,‘plans for well-being, not for bad things; so that you can have hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 CJB

    The Good Shepherd

Lord, You are the Good Shepherd

    Who cares for His sheep

    with constancy and concern.

    You guide and protect,

    You nurture and nudge;

    Your eyes never sleep.

    You see each one,

young and old, weak and strong.

You guide us to green pastures

    and fresh waters,

    You protect us from harm.

When one of us goes astray,

    You go after us.

You look and look and look

    until You find us.

    Then with great rejoicing,

You bring us back into the fold.

You desire that no sheep are lost.

Your joy is seeing Your sheep

in the safety of Your kingdom.

    Your loving care

    makes all the difference.
