Words from the Lord during prayer and devotional journaling

    I hear the Lord say:

You ponder the future: the immediate and the long term. It is helpful to be aware of the passing of time and to make decisions for health, home and family. But realize that many of life’s circumstances will take you by surprise. But they don’t take Me by surprise. I see from the beginning to the end and I am for you. I bless you today and will bless you tomorrow. Plans for tomorrow are best when you align your thoughts with Me. Each person has a unique journey but each unique life journey is best equipped with My abiding presence. You can pack your bags and plan your trip to the best of your ability. But something unexpected may come up. Let me be your spiritual guide, your companion, your friend, your supplier of all you need. Let the journey be an adventure, a testimony of My goodness, a race well-run and a life of contentment. Your future is safe in My hands.

Moreover, it is God who sets both us and you in firm union with the Messiah; he has anointed us, put his seal on us, and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee for the future.

    I hear the Lord say:

You are pondering the word ‘valley.” You hear people use the term to describe a ‘low’ point in their life. Their valley could be short-term or long-term. I want you to consider another perspective of its meaning. In a valley, you are sheltered from storms common on mountaintops. In a valley, you may find pastures and fields for crops and animals, who are protected and nourished. In a valley, you could find a stream or river, which provides refreshing and life-giving water. Experiencing a ‘valley’ in life does not mean you have to be depressed, sad, or hopeless. The time in the valley is a time of renewal, reflection and restoration. I am with you, both on the mountaintop and in the valley, in the highs, in the lows, and in-between. Moods come and go. Life’s trials come and go. But I am with you always. See each moment, day, week, month, year as opportunities to grow closer and deeper with Me. I desire to help you master your feelings, stand on My promises, and seek Me at all times.

For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing out in the valleys and hills… Deuteronomy 8:7 ESV

    I hear the Lord say:

You live in an area that enjoys four seasons. As you approach the Fall season, you reflect on the cooler temperatures and fall colors that will be on display. In your life, you have seasons as well. They are not cyclical like the weather, but seasons or times that embody your physical and spiritual growth. As you reflect on your life’s seasons in the past, you see times of spiritual renewal, growth and insight that came from life’s challenges and changes. You have seen My hand work in your life with greater clarity. I encourage you to reflect on your current season. Ask yourself some thoughtful questions about your inner state and your connection to Me. Remember that I abide in you and you abide in Me. We are partners in life and I am here to be your Abba Father, your Spiritual mentor and constant Companion. Your joy in the approaching Fall season matches my joy in guiding you in this journey called Life. Let’s discover a new season together!

For everything there is a season, a right time for every intention under heaven — Ecclesiastes 3:1 CJB

  • I hear the Lord say:

Harvest is coming. You will reap what you have sown. Your tears, your heartfelt petitions, your persistence, your patience, your trust, your confidence in Me and My provision will culminate in peace, mercy and grace. Your life is a series of challenges and trials, mountains and valleys, successes and victories. Only one thing is important: that you stay connected to Me. Abiding in Me, relying on Me, trusting in Me, walking with Me, seeking deeper knowing and listening; these are your guiding principles for a life well lived. Answers to prayers are coming. I am working behind the scenes. You will be amazed at the testimonies that will be revealed. My heart is for you and for all My children. I desire that none are lost. As a loving Father, I watch over you, I guide you, I correct you, I root for you. I have abundant harvest available for you.

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

    I hear the Lord say:

It is your time of refreshing. In the busy-ness of life, be deliberate about turning off the distractions around you. Tuning in to Me, reading My Word, pondering, meditating, chewing the cud, thoroughly contemplating My wisdom, knowledge, grace, mercy and peace which is available to you. I am your Living Water. I bring refreshing, renewal and respite. I bring rest, not a slothful rest, but an active rest. It is a rest comprised of a peace settled in your spirit and soul, giving you a solid foundation and an unshakeable faith. As cool water refreshes your brow and a cold drink revives your energy, so My Living Water quenches your spirit-thirst. It is a well that never runs dry. Imagine a cool deep spring with underground caverns. You are welcome to wade into the spring, stand under the waterfall, and submerge in My loving kindness! You will emerge fresh and alive, feeling the embrace of My everlasting love and goodness. Don’t delay – jump in!

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” John 4:10 ESV

    I hear the Lord say:

Bloom. Bloom, not just where you are planted, but bloom along the path you are traveling. You can dream dreams and have goals. Know that when these dreams and goals are aligned with your purpose, they can come to pass. Your dream may be in the seed stage, buried deep underground, taking in nourishment and waiting for the right time to split open and send forth a shoot to the surface. Your dream may be a seedling, in the early stages, tender and delicate, easily trampled or overlooked. Your dream may be a tall sunflower, reaching for the sky, but needs staking to remain upright. Your dream may be an oak tree, taking many seasons to mature. Talk with Me, walk with Me, plan with Me. Holy Spirit will give you fresh insight into making your goals a reality. Be open to partnering with Me and with others who can support you along the way. Shun the naysayers; ignore the negative speakers and stay focused on our vision. I will enable you to pursue a future brighter than you can imagine.

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you

will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

    I hear the Lord say:

A sling and a stone – not the usual weapons of warfare. The shepherd boy, David, used these as his weapons of choice to fight and defeat Goliath. He had to ignore the derision of his older brothers. He had to reject the advice of King Saul to wear his armor. David assured the king that he fought lions and bears to protect his sheep. He was incensed to hear the Philistine warrior mock the God of Israel. He had it in his heart to defeat this enemy and bring glory to his God and King.

David is not my only warrior. You are my warrior, too! I have imbued you with unique qualities and gifts to use for kingdom purposes. Your gifts qualify you to reach your God-given dreams, to open your mind and heart to new possibilities, to rise above the mundane and overcome obstacles that hinder or discourage. With Me at your side, we can do wonderful things!

Keep on hoping, keep on dreaming, keep on trusting.

I Samuel Chapter 17: David and Goliath

I keep pursuing the goal in order to win the prize offered by God’s upward calling in the Messiah Yeshua.
