I hear the Lord say:
“Peace, be still” are the words my Son, Jesus, used to calm the storm while in a boat with the disciples. You are amazed that He was sleeping in the midst of the storm. He could do this because He had My perfect rest inside and out. As fully human and fully God, He could experience and relate to all the fears that you face as humans. But His divine nature took precedence as He rested in the boat. Upon being awakened by the terrified disciples, He commands the wind and waves to be calm. A raging storm that was about to engulf the boat suddenly disappears. The disciples are astonished. It is another example of Jesus’ lordship and authority. Realize that when you call on the name of Jesus, you call on the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He has supreme authority over heaven and earth. When the day brings events that rock your boat, remember Jesus is in the boat with you. He will steady your feet, realign your mind and calm your heart. Think of Him as your anchor, your captain and your navigator. Jesus will chart the path ahead to clear skies and calm waters. New storms may arise but you now know that Jesus is at your side to weather the storm and increase your faith day by day.
On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
